Rome Nov 22-26 2023

We then took a train from Ferinze SMN to Roma Termini; and took a cab from the train station to our hotel in Campo Di Fiori.

On first night, we had dinner within the Piazza we were staying in. We had a good nights sleep next and the following day we started late but covered Pantheon, Spanish Steps. piazza Del Popolo, shopping district and finally a night walk to the Roman Forum and Colosseum.

Ok November 24th, we caught a tour guide to take us into the Vatican. This was by far the most expensive and important your we booked. The tour was oriented towards kids and we were barely staying at anything, especially missing out on the 3000 year old Egyptian statues and mummies. We managed to get the guide to move take us to the Raphael rooms and saw the School of Athens. Eventually we made our way to Sistine chapel and it was amazing but as we anything overhyped a bit normal. Mahira and Vidya played a game with the tour guy to look for a cat that was in the last super painting in the Sistine Chapel (this is not the one by Leonardo Da Vinci which is in Milan and needs another trip as we didn’t get to Milan in this trip )

After the Vatican visit, we ate lunch and took a cab back and slept for a bit l. After we woke up we went back to the Shopping Triangle in Rome and bought Vidya’s birthday dress (we already had one from Nordstrom but this felt a bit more appropriate). After this we have dinner and went to the Trevi Fountain. It rained when we were there and it was actually a blessing the square was completely empty as a result!!! We couldn’t find a reasonable cab in the rain and walked back to the room and Al the girls slept.

On 25th Vidya’s birthday, we started the day with a cup cake for Vidya. Then we bought tickets for Colosseum and Roman forum. Roman forum was definitely more impressive. After a quick stop for coffee and recharging phones, we went back shopping and got a sit on suitcase for Vidya. After we came back to the room, tiramisu, gelato and some more shopping from a beautiful street near Pizza Navona. That was a real hit with the family and we were glad to have stumbled on that street.
